The Cody Memorial Hospital Association Board
addressed at a meeting held in January, 1940
“that due to a recent contribution that dwarfed
any other gift, the board of directors were now
assured they could commence construction of
the finest hospital in any town the size of Cody in
the United States, if not the entire world.”
This comment was made in the Cody Enterprise,
75 years ago by the Cody Medical Association
Board of Directors after receiving a gift of
$50,000 by W. R. Coe, which increased the funds
raised to $68,200 allowing the board to move
forward with the construction of the new hospital
in Cody.
The article addressed “building the new hospital
was an ambitious dream; those who dreamed it
have been exposed to the scoffs of the doubters,
whose ranks are continually shrinking both in
size and vociferousness, and who usually cry,
impossible, whenever any ambitious project has
been undertaken in Cody.”
I would like to extend a special thanks and tribute
to Mr. W. R. Coe and the MANY community
leaders who undertook such an ambitious dream.
The new Cody Hospital required great courage
and support on the part of many men and
women!
Fast forward 75 years…WPH continues to be a
progressive healthcare organization, by ensuring
our facilities and services meet the needs of our
patients.
Thanks to our Board of Trustees and Leadership,
we have now obtained our dream of completing
our 10 year Facility Master Plan that began in
2006. Please refer to the Construction Update on
page 24 to read more on this plan.
